Just in case I decide to run for the BOD

Misc:  Only 2 people registered to run for the 2 available Owner positions.  I was one of them and I am in the process of deciding if I want to hold the position which starts 1/29/11

Candidate Information Sheet for Bill Harris

I purchased condo #708 in June of 2007 with the intention of spending six months here in the winter and six months at my home near Atlanta.  This did not happen due to some medical problems which resulted in a trip to India for heart valve surgery and additional hospitalizations for a serious infection upon my return.  I have not been able to spend as much time here as I intended when I purchased the unit.

I have never been pleased with the running of this complex.  Until just recently it was under the control of the Developers Board of Directors and this Board and Concord Management has an extremely poor record of management of this condominium.  I have lived in 2 other Florida condos and this one suffers from indifference and a total lack of leadership.

Our first election for one Owner BOD member drew five candidates, the winner later resigned citing the lack of co-operation from the 2 Developer BOD members.  The next 2 elections drew no candidates, the 2nd place finisher in the first election continued to serve.  The Dec. 6, 2010 election had 2 candidates, neither made any effort that I am aware of to let the Owners know what they intended to do during their tenure in office.

Now we have the Annual General Meeting with election of the full BOD on Jan 29, 2011.  I have decided to run for one of the open positions at this election.  I have lived in condos before and I have both a BS in Administrative Services and an AS in Paralegal Studies.

I first came to Panama City Beach on an Easter Break from my 'Junior' College in Marianna, it has now grown to a full 4 year college.  When looking for a winter condo 40 years later, I recalled how I liked Panama City and the beach and I returned to PC and rented a condo at the Landmark for 8 months while I looked at various properties in Bay County, eventually paying $165,000 for my 3/2 here.

Shortly after buying here I started a 'message board', not satisfied with that I dropped it and opened a blog where I posted the relevant condo documents so that Owners could have 24/7 access to the various items and not have to rely on the bulky book of documents we got when we purchased. Over the last 3 years it has grown to 300 entries with additions of photos, comments and general information on both the condo and the area.  (see: http://nautiluscondosrules.blogspot.com)

I will be in contact with you by mail to let you know what plans I have for my tenure should you elect me, this condo has an extremely poor track record of keeping Owners or tenants up to speed on what is going on and what is planned.  I assure you that this WILL change and I will work with the other elected Owner to put into practice some of the things that I have repeatedly mentioned on my blog site.  And just as a teaser for what I hope to accomplish, let me say that Concord Management, despite its 3 year sweetheart contract, is going to get tossed out of Nautilus Cove Condo.  Thank you for reading this information sheet.

Returned today from 15 days at the condo.  Place still annoys me, so I don't spend a lot of time there.  About 30 days so far this year, last year it was 49.

Glad to be back 'home' in Kennesaw.  Here I have a decent Comcast TV set up, down there I just get 7 channels that 'come through the wall', long ago cancelled the satellite company DirecTv.

Continuing Medical Problems

Update: Oct 15, 2010: This has completely healed.
The above is a photo of my right thigh.

It is easier to just post an exchange of emails about my new heart problems so here is one that is a good summary. I post it as I seldom visit the four Harris related blogs and if I am gone from them for a few years you can probably figure that I am taking a dirt nap. So here is a photo of a medical screw up where I went in for tests the 22nd and 23 of July 2010 and during the 2nd test where the put wires up your veins and arteries one fellow managed to poke a hole in my major thigh artery.

MY REPLY:
They haven't volunteered any info on that and I had other fish to fry so didn't make a big deal about it. I was totally under when I was brought back to semi-conscious state by someone actually pounding on me and applying such pressure to my groin that it really hurt and yelling, I knew something was wrong but went back under soon. Guess that is what a lot of people who die in operations hear, just a lot of noise and shouting then nothing. In my case of course I recovered - at least this time.

I don't even know which Dr screwed up, might have been some intern or less likely my own Dr. Was told by another Dr that came to visit that my surgery would be done by some bright young guy, 'best in the field' so it wouldn't be the same knucklehead that screwed up and went through the vein wall.
For now I have an appointment for an INR test Mon and see an Indian Dr Persaid on Thurs PM, at which time I will be asking a few questions, not so much about the above but about the pending operation and if it can be put off. Keep in mind that for 4 years I was on meds before I had to get operated on (in India). I have now been off the care of any heart Dr for over 2 1/2 yrs so exactly when the situation took this bad turn is unknown. Only know that the symptoms appeared a couple of months ago and grew to where I saw the cardio guy Reitman. If I hadn't had the 'drowning/no sleep' problem this could have gone on for years with no one aware of it.

So there are questions to be asked/answered.

Usually it dosen't snow here in the Atlanta area. This is the 2nd time it did, last was about 3 weeks ago, the day before I returned from the Florida condo. This snow started about 8 a.m. and at 2 p.m. is was still coming down.

2010 Escape replaces 2002 Explorer

Purchased this Ford Escape V6 Dec 15, 2009, an early Xmas present for myself. 16,700 plus 2002 Explorer trade in and some dealer discounts.

The 'old' Green 2002 V8 Ford Explorer was replaced in Dec of 2009 with a Blue 2010 Ford Escape V6, the old one had 59,788 miles on it. The new vehicle is really just a 'junior' Explorer. It was 8 yrs old and it was time to trade it in for something new. A copy of the Team Ford of Marietta purchase agreement is appended.

My adventures in India - Medical Tourism

This is only a 'blurb' for this topic. While the events related here did take place shortly after my purchase at NCC, it is not really a topic for this site. I have established a seperate blog to provide this information. The direct link is: http://overseasmedicalcare.blogspot.com/ Photo: Apollo Hospital, Delhi, India
