About a month ago the Google picture car went by and I have been watching for my photo to appear.

Now they are online for the world to see and folks can see me cutting the grass! I am now famous.

1940 Census for my family in Chicago

I found the census form online, it was done on 4/19/1940. With some back and forth I used a blank form found online and entered the date as it appears on the original form. That original was a bit hard to read but below is the information contained on the hard to read form. I see that my grandmother provided the info and that their house at 7234 S. Lafayette Ave was worth $3,250 and my grandfather made $2,100 yearly, working 48 hours per week as the Superintendent of the Stockyard Post Office in Chicago.

The 2nd section of the form was not required and is reproduced here just FYI.

My mother was 18 at the time and still in high school, subsequently she joined the Marine Corp and married my father, Charles Ernest Harris, in the Camp LeJune Protestant Chapel on base, this of course is NOT on the form, just an addendum, also my great grandmother died about 1948 or 49, passing away at the house on Lafayette Ave.

Although the right side of the form is overlaid by gadgets all you need to do
for a larger image right click and open in a new window, the forms will be large
and easy to read:

I looked up the realestate info for the house and found:
7234 S LAFAYETTE Ave CHICAGO, IL 60620
Beds: 5+  Baths: 2.0    Finished Sqft: 2,356
Floors: 2  Lot Size: 5,841   Style: Multi-Family (5+ Unit)
Year Built:  1909  or 1912, found different dates
Sold on 07/01/10  $200,000, Tax (2010)  $2,097
Community: Greater Grand Crossing

The house was completely redone inside, very modern and up to date.  When I lived there from approx. 1947 until about 1953 the 2nd floor was usually rented out and the only tenants I recall were a medical student and his wife, Charles and Peggy Marquart, he eventually moved to Phoenix and was well though of in his profession.

About 1953 the neighborhood was changing to blacks and the house was sold and me moved only about 2 blocks, to a rented 2nd floor apartment, this was a mistake as the minority population soon was moving into this area and we again moved to 7332 S. Campbell Ave, Chicago where my grandparents remained for many years in a rented 2nd floor apartment.

My mother and I ended up going to a newly constucted house at 7901 Redondo Lane, Laguna Woods, Orland Park, Ill about 1956, this was when my mother married my stepfather, Robert Norman Anderson.  My grandparents remained on Campbell Ave for years before moving to a 2nd fl rented apartment in Blue Island, Ill.

After my grandfather died my grandmother moved into a newly constructed 'mother in law' apartment with my mother.  As I recall my stepfather had died of cirosis of the liver by that time and both my grandmother and mother lived in that house until they each died in turn.

The house was sold after my mothers death in 2002 and I received half of the proceeds, or about 80K.

Under the Misc. Section
I found the below regarding my 'step-uncle', my stepfathers brother, their family lived across the street from us in Laguna Woods.  Robert and Hank Anderson purchased lots in the new subdivision of Laguna Woods at the same time and my stepfather substantially built the house himself, bringing in contractors as needed to do some of the work.  Hank and Shirley had their house build and moved in several years later.  I last saw them when I went up to settle my mothers estate about 2002.  Hank died five years later.

This was the 2nd snow of this winter. Snow happens in this area every few years, however, this one dropped about 7 inches in Kennesaw and Atlanta metro and will remain on the ground for at least two days. This is unusual and is setting some records. TV stations are reporting this to the exclusion of all other programming. Very annoying - I already know is snowed, so hey 'shut up already' and put back the regular shows!

Snow arrived Xmas day and stayed for a few more days. More like Chicago weather than Georgia weather. I stayed close to home, only going out for a meal and a walk through a store nearby.

Xmas Day 2010

Every 3rd year or so we get some snow in Kennesaw. This year it just happened to be on Christmas Day. Here is my house at 3236 Summer Stream Lane, in the Summer Stream development of 54 houses.

My day consisted of getting up at 11:30, doing some enteries on my various blogs and going to lunch at the Huddle House, one of the few restaurants open on Xmas day.  Then home to read and watch TV.  IMHO:  Christmas Sucks!

Just in case I decide to run for the BOD

Misc:  Only 2 people registered to run for the 2 available Owner positions.  I was one of them and I am in the process of deciding if I want to hold the position which starts 1/29/11

Candidate Information Sheet for Bill Harris

I purchased condo #708 in June of 2007 with the intention of spending six months here in the winter and six months at my home near Atlanta.  This did not happen due to some medical problems which resulted in a trip to India for heart valve surgery and additional hospitalizations for a serious infection upon my return.  I have not been able to spend as much time here as I intended when I purchased the unit.

I have never been pleased with the running of this complex.  Until just recently it was under the control of the Developers Board of Directors and this Board and Concord Management has an extremely poor record of management of this condominium.  I have lived in 2 other Florida condos and this one suffers from indifference and a total lack of leadership.

Our first election for one Owner BOD member drew five candidates, the winner later resigned citing the lack of co-operation from the 2 Developer BOD members.  The next 2 elections drew no candidates, the 2nd place finisher in the first election continued to serve.  The Dec. 6, 2010 election had 2 candidates, neither made any effort that I am aware of to let the Owners know what they intended to do during their tenure in office.

Now we have the Annual General Meeting with election of the full BOD on Jan 29, 2011.  I have decided to run for one of the open positions at this election.  I have lived in condos before and I have both a BS in Administrative Services and an AS in Paralegal Studies.

I first came to Panama City Beach on an Easter Break from my 'Junior' College in Marianna, it has now grown to a full 4 year college.  When looking for a winter condo 40 years later, I recalled how I liked Panama City and the beach and I returned to PC and rented a condo at the Landmark for 8 months while I looked at various properties in Bay County, eventually paying $165,000 for my 3/2 here.

Shortly after buying here I started a 'message board', not satisfied with that I dropped it and opened a blog where I posted the relevant condo documents so that Owners could have 24/7 access to the various items and not have to rely on the bulky book of documents we got when we purchased. Over the last 3 years it has grown to 300 entries with additions of photos, comments and general information on both the condo and the area.  (see: http://nautiluscondosrules.blogspot.com)

I will be in contact with you by mail to let you know what plans I have for my tenure should you elect me, this condo has an extremely poor track record of keeping Owners or tenants up to speed on what is going on and what is planned.  I assure you that this WILL change and I will work with the other elected Owner to put into practice some of the things that I have repeatedly mentioned on my blog site.  And just as a teaser for what I hope to accomplish, let me say that Concord Management, despite its 3 year sweetheart contract, is going to get tossed out of Nautilus Cove Condo.  Thank you for reading this information sheet.
